Don’t use those junk tomato cages that home centers sell – they’re small, will fall apart in a year and are too expensive!
Make your own – buy a roll (or a few sheets) of concrete mesh and make superior cages that your vegetables will love climbing up. These cages are 20″ diameter, 5 ft tall and strong as ever. They’ll last you at least 15 years.
The cages in this video were made from a 150′ roll of concrete mesh I purchased from Lowes. It was about $150. I’ll make 27 cages out of it, use about 17 and sell 10 at $10 each on craigslist. My 17 cages will cost me roughly $50 and I’ll have them for years.
